Raimundo Fernandez was born in Cartagena, Colombia, to a musical family. He was planning on a career in basketball, but after attending a concert by the Argentinian pianist Raul di'Blasio his life changed dramatically. From this moment on he set his sights on becoming a top-class pianist instead.
Raimundo studied, thanks to his father, with the 'pianist of pianists' in Cartagena, Maestro Lalo Orozco. He was Lalo's only pupil, being inspired to teach by Raimundo's enthusiasm and talent.

Raimundo studied a new piece every Saturday, learning the large repertoire of Latin rhythms with an insatiable appetite. Following on from this, Raimundo worked hard (as he does today) studying jazz and all aspects of harmony.

Aside from his Latin and Jazz music roots, Raimundo has a large obsession for classical music, where composers such as Ravel, Chopin, Bach, Rachmaninov and Beethoven inform and inspire lessons and his pupils daily.
